How to Replace a Pull Start Cord onto a Cub Cadet Grass Trimmer

Cub cadet generates a line of divide boom series trimmers; that the tool can quickly turn into a brush or edger, the part of the drive shaft separates. It began locating the start cord between the drive shaft and the engine flywheel when Cub Cadet added its trimmers and that this multifunctionality. Whenever you have to replace the cord, you need to take out the drive shaft, which isn’t a undertaking that is difficult. Formerly 4-cycle Cub Cadet models include a starter assembly that’s attached to the side of the engine casing.

Disable the trimmer. Set it down to a level surface. If it is a split boom trimmer, then disengage the part of the drive shaft by loosening the nut and pulling it off. This makes the rest of the procedure simpler.

Unscrew the four screws holding the drive shaft into the engine using a screwdriver and pull the drive shaft off. Turn the drive shaft round to get the mechanism — it is inside the drive shaft. Unscrew the assembly in the face of the engine if you have an older model that is 4-cycle. You do not need to remove the drive shaft.

Pull the old cord, using needle-nose pliers, if necessary from. Clean using a rag out the inside of the assembly.

Prepare a fresh length of string with the exact same diameter as the old one by massaging the end with a lighter while it is still warm, and rolling the tip in your palms. This makes it easier to thread through the holes onto the assembly.

Twist the starter two revolutions clockwise, and line up the holes in the hub and the casing cover. Feed the cord through both holes and tie a knot. Twist the grip on the end of the rope and tie a knot at that end.

Hold the rope against the pulley, and use the rope to end the barbell or six more clockwise revolutions. Keeping tension permit the pulley to gradually unwind, wrapping the rope round itself, until the grip is held contrary to the casing by the strain in the spring.

Replace the back in the event that you took it apart, and reassemble the drive shaft. Reconnect the spark plug wire before you use the trimmer.
