The Best Way to Remove Ink Stains From a Pillowcase and Bedspread

High-quality bedspreads and pillowcases aren’t cheap, so in the event that you become aware of an ink stain on them, it likely makes you mad. Whether a pen burst, a printer toner cartridge leaked or somebody had a collision with a mark, it is possible to make those stains disappear. Soaking up the ink when the stain is fresh makes cleanup much easier after. You’ll also need to dissolve the ink prior to laundering the stained item. Many common household materials, like lemon juice, vinegar, rubbing alcohol and peroxide, help break down the ink and permit you to lift stains off.

Sprinkle a dash of table salt or cornstarch over the ink when the stain is wet. Blot the stain with a moist paper towel to absorb some of the ink. Brush off the salt or cornstarch and use a bit more. Keep repeating this step until cornstarch or the salt stops swallowing ink.

Spritz the ink stain with a transparent, alcohol-based hairspray to help loosen the ink. Alternately, blot the stain with a cotton ball soaked in rubbing alcohol or shaving lotion.

Rub a small amount of hand sanitizer into the ink. Work your way from the exterior of the stain in to stop it from spreading. Blot the region with a paper towel to lift the ink away. Rub the spot with a bar of soap, then rinse with cool water.

Combine 1 quart of warm water, 1 tablespoon of distilled white vinegar and one tablespoon of liquid dishwashing detergent in a large bowl. Scrub the pillowcase or bedspread in the remedy for a couple hours. Moisten a cloth and blot the stain on the item together with the solution.

Scrub the stain with hydrogen peroxide, then allow it to set overnight. Alternately, combine 2 tablespoons of lemon juice with 2 tbsp of cream of tartar. Smooth the paste over the stain and let it set for three or four hours. Brush off the paste.

Apply a dab of non-gel toothpaste to the stained fabric. Rub the toothpaste into the fabric thoroughly, then wash the region with cool water.

Launder the pillowcase and bedspread as normal to eliminate the rest of the stain.
