When you develop cabbage (Brassica oleracea var. Capitata) in your garden, you do not necessarily have to settle for one harvest. By cutting your heads at the ideal time and place, you may delight in a batch of cabbage rolls, another round of coleslaw or other pleasures from a cabbage plant.
A Careful Cutting
The best way to get a head of cabbage would be to cut on on the head near the base of the face area. It’s best to do it when the head is firm but has to split or crack you’re harvesting cabbage. Leave the leaves that surrounded the head there to keep growing, after cutting the first head. During the upcoming several weeks, you’ll begin to see where the leaves meet the stem that is original, buds increase. These sprouts will grow into cabbage heads that are small. Cut them off at a diameter of between 2 and 4 inches and their foundations when they are company, recommends the University of Illinois Extension. Grown as an annual, cabbage can be planted and autumn and may grow annually in coastal areas.
